Poetry, in Motion: My First Poetry Book

Magnificent Cowlick Media has focused on publishing dark fiction/horror/speculative fiction. This coming year, I’ll venture, tentatively, into a different literary realm, with MCM’s first poetry book.

“This Sea of Days” is a collection of fifty-six poems, written by me, over the course of a decade or two. Maybe three…but who’s counting? It also includes some of my photography.

The eighty-page collection has both a broodiness, and a cheer to it, offering personal reflections on dying, living, lying, and loving. Many have a darker tinge to them, because life leads to one inevitable conclusion. But, some are joyous in their exploration of release, of freedom, of the connections we can make with our world, with each other, and best of all, with our true selves.

What you see here is a working cover. I love the feel that Cami Travis-Groves, from camiimac.com, has given it. Good luck getting Cami to do your book; she designed the cover of 4 of the 5 fiction books MCM has put out, and was the book designer for all of them, for a reason: she’s really good. Thing is, she’s also great at coaching/mentoring creatives, which is where her focus now lies. Drop “Magnificent Cowlick Media sent me” into your email query for design help, should you send one to her. Maybe that will help get an inside track? 😉

I have also contacted an artist out of Charleston, South Carolina, for a possible different cover, using an original piece of watercolor work commissioned for this poetry book. Her schedule is in demand right now, so we’ll see if I can slip in sideways. Either way, this collection will look terrific.

“This Sea of Days” has a target release for March, 2022.
